Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced asphalt paving and/or concrete finisher to lead and coordinate activities of workers engaged in installing, repairing and patching asphalt or concrete to form surfaces of streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and driveways.

Requirements

  • Supervising and coordinating crew activities, studying production schedules, and estimating work requirements for completion of job assignment in compliance with or beating the job estimate.
  • Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.
  • Recommends measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.
  • Supervise and coordinates activities of 3 to 6 personnel engaged in paving preparation, and construction with an emphasis in asphalt paving, sealcoating, striping, concrete pours, form building/setting, and finishing concrete.
  • Developing and training new employees within the company.
  • Responsible for over-seeing projects from start to finish.
  • Observe, record and report daily activities.
  • Communication liaison between the customer’s onsite point of contact and construction team.
  • Review works orders, proposals and contracts to ensure project scope is defined.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and execute blueprints.
  • Request and review change orders when required.
  • Conduct daily and weekly meetings with associated managers/owners.
  • Inspecting and measuring completed work.
  • Ensuring the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
  • Touring job sites to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, measure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts and quality standards, and to supervise the job.
  • Inspects job location to ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health regulations (governmental and company) and issues directives to workers to ensure adherence to such regulations and policies.
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various types.
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or crew members with other duties as required.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field and/or training.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • 3 to 5 years of related asphalt and paving experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and attributes.
  • An understanding of construction project management or knowledgeable in asphalt paving, concrete, sealcoating and striping.
