Crew Member

Crew member is a team player that performs all necessary duties to complete an asphalt or concrete job for a customer. Member will assist in a variety of duties and responsibilities on the jobsite.

Requirements

  • Prepares ground surfaces for pavement or concrete. Removes debris out of the construction path.
  • Operates ground compactors, levels out and rakes dirt, sets string markers, and removes items within the area to be paved.
  • Sets up fencing, barricades, and/or safety cones to block off the work area as needed.
  • Cleans asphalt off tools and equipment after each work day.
  • May assist with operating equipment as needed and if trained, including paver, roller, skid steer, etc.
  • Assist work crew with various duties such as shoveling, loading equipment and general maintenance and upkeep.
  • May be required to use power and/or hand tools such as shovel, rake, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer/drill, tamps (both manual and power driven), sledge hammer and other tools associated with laborer.
  • Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-12 hours.
  • Attitude/cooperation: always maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes.
  • Overtime work required. Out of town work/night and weekend work may be required but rare.
  • Ability to operate or initiative to learn to operate equipment and learn additional skills required at an asphalt or concrete jobsite.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. while using proper lifting techniques.
  • Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks at jobsite.
  • Attendance required according to Company Attendance Policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in construction, specifically asphalt or concrete, preferred but not required.
